Robot

I am very disappointed, not efficient, I cant use that. Waste of money. Dont buy it, the voice is like a robot. Such a shame.

Doesn`t have the portuguese ( Marcia ) voice, and u cant even purchase it. like in the ipad app, los

Doesn`t have the portuguese ( Marcia ) voice, and u cant even purchase it. like in the ipad app, lost U$15 bucks!

Good app with some issues.

Moving “Magnifying Glass” to new location, it becomes confused, skips around and DOES NOT MAGNIFY. Switching Voices causes speed settings to no longer apply and races through document. On plus side is incredibly fast switching to any Apple voices. Interface is pleasant, accessible, and most features function well. Excellent app for proofing documents. For anyone with minimal reading and / or reading comprehension disabilities. Inexpensive as well.

Needs osx update

very glitchy

I want UK version update!

I bought Vbookz pdf reader for iPhone, I chose UK version of the reader, and i fell in love with it. So i decide to buy one for my Mac, and I was disappointed because I could not find any UK accent in it. For paying 1300 Yen, I expect to have a UK accent update very soon. And I definetely will rate 5 stars intead of 2.. Thanks,

VERY BAD

This is very very very bad app..

A+ Application, Don’t Worry About the 2011 Date

Like the previous reviewer, I too read PDFs with the voiceover (I use this TTS feature on my kindle) so that I may get both the auditory and the visual reading done simultaneously, which for me and for most people, commits it to memory better. There’s nothing wrong with this app, despite the 2011 date - visually it looks just as current as any other AppStore app and it does a fine job on large and weird PDFs. This is a must have for anyone “reading to learn,” like I do: white-papers, online text books, you name it. I am able to read them with audio and remember quite a bit more than I ever could reading silently (or) listening to a book alone. The neatest feature is that it highlights the word when you read it.. not even Amazon’s TTS nor Apple’s Accessibility TTS does that. It’s a must-have app for me and I use it all the time on a very new MacBook Pro 2015 running macOS Sierra (latest version as of this writing) - it works flawlessly.

count me impressed

Just purchased this about 30 minutes ago so I have limited usage so far. Really does "read" pdf files, and lets my eyes relax a bit. Since it reads everything, I suppose when I "print" to pdf I need to get the urls and misc. stuff out as much as possible now.

A great new addition to the vBookz series

A great new way to listen to documents being read. Enables you to do other things while listening to the documents you have to read or follow the magnifying glass on the document itself, which is very helpful - especially for non-native speakers, seaking to improve their English. Looking forward to even more features... :-)

Best Reader ive found

I used this in conjunction wtih my OCR program for PDF at school. Since the OCR is not always on point I follow along which is ok. Keeps me on pace and allows me to see how long i will take to finish a certian reading. Great tool for school and since it is really easy to make pdfs on mac it isnt a problem that this app only reads pdfs. overall great app considering speech rec isnt perfect

Works well.

Please add for pdf reading for iphone, or at least indicate that it does read pdfs if so. I hate copying and pasting from GoodReader to Text2Speech. Also, please make maximum reading speed at least 300 wpm.

it needs a update please

will skip around certian articles with photos in it . need a way to get out of page to another easly . love this wen it works and will give 5 stars after you fix in next update please .

wont read every pdf file

if the pdf consists of scans of a book or other source then it wont be able to read it.

I want my money back-Huge waste of money.

Downloaded it 10min ago and it isnt working. Tried to go to help and there want any directions on how to make it work; all you get is the following message "Help isnt available for vBookz. DONT BUY IT! Go buy something more useful like a lottery ticket.

I LOVE IT!

I love this app, as Ive been looking for a PDF Voice Reader for a long time. Please make this app available for the iPad with real human-like voices. Thans for the app. J, Los Angeles

very off in Lion.

the follow along highlighting seems to be very off in Lion 10.7 hopefully the dev fixes this very soon.

No HD Voice in Lion supported

I just bought this application so i dont have to read my huge collection of ebooks. For the most part vBookz works but i am dissappointed that it doesnt support OS X Lion high defition voice. For instance when i select Speech > Voice > Tom there is no output. The HD voice is more human natural instead of Agnes/Alex robotic voice. I would update to a 5 star rating if this application is update to support new HD Voices in Lion.

Quite good, but could use some improvements

This is way better than the built-in voice features in OSX, given that it enables you to immediately see where you are in a document, as well as stop and start when you want (a glaringly missing feature in the OS). However, it stumbles in that the maximum playback speed is 235 words per minute -- slower than the maximum speed provided by the operating system -- which limits the usefulness of this program. In addition to support for HD Voices (like whats available in Lion), this app could also be improved by adding an export feature, so that people can export their audio recordings to iTunes to add to their iPods for listening on the go. Im really looking forward to when an app comes along that will allow all of this. I think it would be a blockbuster!

This does not work with ebook Collection Protected Documents

The App does not have a Help file and also does not seem to work with ebook Collection Protected Documents. This is a waste of money if you are trying to use in college that uses ebook Collection Protected PDF documents. Wish they would fix. Wished I could have tried it out before I bought it.

Good Product

This App Does what it says it does the other review says it doesnt read ebooks. It doesnt claim to read ebooks it says it read PDF files and it does. If the page number is at the bottom in the middle it throws it off and makes it skip around and you have to redirect it back to the right place but that is the only problem I have found. I like it good product.
